Review: Awakening

Rating: ★★★★☆ 4/5

“When this novel first arrived in the post, I was sceptical. The synopsis on the back was sort of interesting and I was intrigued by the fact that it was a winner of a Festival of Romance award but the blatant allusions to Fifty Shades of Grey were quite off-putting. I understand that it is easier to make things sell if you imply they’re like another hot property but there have been far too many books marketed like this in the past year. I’m bored of this type of marketing; it seems lazy and uncreative, especially when the book you’re talking about isn’t much like Fifty Shades at all.

Review: Tops and Bottoms Discipline Delights story 8

Story 8: Smile for the Camera by Kathleen Tudor (pages 76-81)

Rating: ★★★★☆ 4/5

“When I first read the title for this story, I expected it to be about a kinky photoshoot. I also expected it to be maledom/femsub with a heavy dose of compliments, teasing and eventual sex. It wasn’t. I’m not entirely sure why this was my first assumption considering the cover has a Domme with a paddle, but that’s what I immediately thought. Initially this was a disappointment since I find that kind of scenario extremely arousing but I decided to read the story anyway.

As you’ve probably guessed from the title of my blog and my life choices in the BDSM circle, femdom/malesub isn’t really my thing. It simply doesn’t work for me. So when I saw that this story had that setup I had my doubts as to whether it was going to be right for me or not. I approached this story with brief caution until I noticed that the relationship depicted was long distance – and had orders to boot! Since this is how my own BDSM relationship is I suddenly became quite interested.

“So, instead of a camera the story revolves around the use of a webcam.”

Review: SPUNK Lube PINK

Tall bottle with a cap, bearing the word SPUNK in pink letters.This review is for the pink version of SPUNK Lube from the Spunk Lube website. It only comes in one size as of this post which is 8oz, though there are various offers for it that you can take advantage of.

Rating: ★★★★☆ 4/5

“I first heard about this lube from the lovely HellKat83 when she was discussing it on Twitter. My first reaction was confusion. Who the hell would want lube that felt and looked like cum? Surely it was only something people into cuckolding would like, not someone like me. But then I noticed it had a rather large gay following, saw porn stars using it and other bloggers began posting reviews. The more I saw it, the more I wanted to give it a try.

As a rule, I generally don’t like to judge things before I try them so I started following the creator of SPUNK Lube, str8cam, to see what the fuss was about. It was around this time that he brought out SPUNK Lube PINK, so I harassed him about letting me try some. My thought process was that it would be less weird since it wouldn’t look exactly like cum.

So, how does it measure up?

“When I got my bottle, it came wrapped heavily in bubble-wrap to keep it safe and prevent it from opening accidentally in transport.”

Review: Night School for Scandal

“I want to begin by admitting that I never managed to finish this book. I just couldn’t stand it any more after reading chapter 6. I genuinely hated reading this and that is one of the reasons I put off my review for so long, particularly after reading the short part about Angela Meadow’s struggle to write it. I empathised with her and didn’t really want to criticise when she had done her best. I debated for a while whether I had to finish it or whether I should even review it at all and decided it would be best to just get my opinion out of the way.

“As I read this book I found myself becoming more and more annoyed. It starts out with the main character, Joyce, at home after her husband has died.”

Review: Anovibe+ Anal Bead Waterproof Vibrator

A purple clear set of jelly beads in a line.I was sent this toy by Magic Moments back in August/September in exchange for my honest review. This review has taken a long time due to loads of factors, including the material of the toy and my health issues.

“This review has been a long time coming and been delayed for more reasons than I care to list. When I asked Magic Moments if I could review toys for them they asked me to create a list of what I would like and this was a toy that Daddy chose. At the time I was fairly new to all of this and didn’t actually know what it was that I had ended up asking for. So, here is my opinion now that I’m a bit better acquainted with sex toys.

“The Anovibe+ Anal Bead Waterproof Vibrator has a box that isn’t particularly interesting in terms of design. It has a circle/bubble pattern and the name of the toy on it but not much info other than that.”
